My hope for what lies ahead in the field of landscape design—our own and that of the professionals—isn’t a revolution against the use of non-natives, but a resolution to educate ourselves about what has worked for Mother Nature through the ebb and flow of time and to put that knowledge to work in the planned landscapes that are everywhere a part of our lives.

I won’t get started on a long rant about that like I always do, but that is so true. We actually have environmentalists here who want to protect the invasive exotics! End of rant.

This was a woman way ahead of her times. We visited the Lady Bird Gardens when we traveled through Texas; a treasure.

You are right Over twenty years ago I drove right past the ranch (without visiting) on the way to search for some of the uncommon Texas birds on the Edwards plateau. I had to choose between birds or plants. I still think about that decision . . .
