Checks and Balances

Nature has introduced great variety into the landscape, but man has displayed a passion for simplifying it. Thus he undoes the built-in checks and balances by which nature holds the species within bounds.

  1. One of the main annoyances of ‘landscape professionals’ is that they do not take advantages of the natural characteristics of plants, but instead, try to tame them unrealistically. To make matters worse, some breeders take their breeding too far, literally breeding weaknesses into plants.
